Traveling to Mexico

Mexico is a mix of different interests and cultures. People who travel to Mexico will discover a variety of rich and diverse cultures and entertainment. From museums and opera houses to idyllic beach resorts, travelers in Mexico will surely not ask for anything more.

The people who travel to Mexico will surely enjoy any of the beach resorts outside the capital city. At the top of the list is Acapulco, which is also known as the Riviera of Mexico because of its hotels, casinos and beach resorts. Acapulco is a very popular tourist destination where one can also go deep-sea fishing as well as a variety of other water sports. Another haven for Mexico travelers is the Mazatlan, which frequently holds international fishing tournaments, as well as pre-Lenten carnivals. Hunting and fishing are other activities of interest in Mexico. You can also discover in Mazatlan an observatory and one of the tallest lighthouses in the world. Other notorious beaches of Mexico are in Cancun Island, Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos.

Traveling to Mexico also offers a world of art and culture. Having many museums, Mexico is one of the most important museum destinations in the world. The Chapultepec Park houses several of these notorious museums; the most renowned of which is the National Museum of Anthropology. Other museums worth visiting are the Museum of National History, Snail Museum, Technology Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art, which displays the finest collection of Mexican paintings, including those of masters such as Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco, David Alfaro Siqueiros, and Rufino Tamayo. Children will be delighted to visit the Mexico City Zoo and the Papalote, a children’s interactive museum.

Traveling to Mexico will be incomplete without visiting the Basilica de Guadalupe, which is the site of the Virgin Mother’s appearance in 1531. The Metropolitan Cathedral is another landmark within Mexico. With its baroque and neoclassical façade, the church is a classic example of architectural art forms.

Another Mexican architectural masterpiece is the Chapultepec Castle, which was once used as a presidential palace. The castle also contains the murals of Mexican painter Juan O’ Gorman as well as the Memorial to Infant Heroes. Los Pinos, which is the official residence of the Mexican President, is also situated on the same grounds as the Castle.

Monuments abound in the Paseo de la Reforma, a tree-line boulevard which features Mexico’s landmarks. Travelers will admire historical monuments such as the Angel of the Independence, the symbol of the country’s national identity, Cuauhtemoc Memorial and the Diana Cazadora, the statue of Diana the Huntress.

What would be a trip to Mexico without shopping for souvenirs? The Zona Rosa or the Pink Zone are a shopping paradise. Within the same area are located several restaurants, boutique squares, shops and hotels. Another enchanting shopping district is the Alameda Park, which borders the Palace of Fine Arts.

History fanatics will also like traveling to Mexico’s notorious religious city of Teotihuacan, the capital of pre-Aztec civilization. In Teotihuacan, travelers will discover the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon, two pyramids that face each other, providing a splendid view of the surrounding landscape from the top.
